Birds Blow Chance To Extend Lead 01/03/2003
Moroka Swallows missed the chance to pull clear of the chasing pack when they were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw against struggling Bush Bucks at the ABSA Stadium....

The Beautiful Birds have been in ominous form in recent weeks and would have been confident of collecting full points against former Bafana Bafana coach Trott Molotos team.

But as it turned out they were forced to take the draw and now share the Premier Soccer League top spot with Wits University, who beat Golden Arrow on Friday night.

The visitors could have taken the lead as early as the 14th minute, but Adam Ndlovus shot was cleared off the line by Dumisani Mpofu.

After that it was all Bucks, who took a deserved lead in the 19th minute when Wellington Sambu converted a cross from Mark McVeigh.

They had a couple of chances to increase their lead, but failed to make the most of it, something which they were made to pay for in the second half.

After testing the keeper a couple of times, Swallows eventually put the ball in the back of the net in the 51st minute when Ndlovu capitalised on an error from Bucks defender Vusumuzi Boitima.

They pushed hard for the win, but in the end had to settle for the draw.
