Moroka Swallows became joint leaders of the Castle Premier League after a 1-0 win over Manning Rangers at the Rand Stadium on Saturday.
It was a match of missed opportunities for both sides, although the Birds had the better of the game overall. Swallows showed a lot of composure on the ball in their build-up play and might have won more comfortably had their forwards been more precise in front of goal.
The crucial strike came in the 26th minute, courtesy of Sibongakonke Ndlovu.
The victory takes Swallows to 40 points, level with Pirates, both having played 20 matches this season. Gavin Hunt's men have shown they have what it takes to put in a genuine title challenge as the season heads towards the crucial home straight.
