Moroka Swallows will feel they missed out on two Premier Soccer League points after being held to a 1-1 draw by basement boys African Wanderers at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban on Sunday.
Swallows could have moved into fourth with a win, but as it is will have to settle for sixth in the table. Wanderers remain rooted to the bottom, three points from safety.
But it was the home side who began the brighter and applied monumental pressure on the Swallows back four.
The visitors were forced into some last-ditched defending and somehow managed to hold out until the 20th minute, before the inevitable Abaqulusi goal arrived.
After exchanging a number of passes, Mbopha Mthembu danced into the area and easily finished to the delight of the Wanderers faithful.
The goal seemed to spur Swallows into action and they finally began to apply some pressure on the home goal.
The scoreline remained the same going into the break, but Swallows finally found some reward for their industrious play when Peter Rabolele equalised just before the hour mark.
Japhet Zwane swung in a corner from the right and Rabolele' rose highest to head home.
The rest of the match was all Swallows as they went in search of the winner, but in the end had to settle for just a point off Wanderers.
