Birds confirm Mofokeng interest
Moroka Swallows have confirmed that they are interested in acquiring the services of Ajax Amsterdam and Amaglug-Glug midfielder, Gabriel 'Ninja' Mofokeng.

"We are still waiting for the deal to be finalised, but we have been in touch with the player's agent and we hope to be tying up the deal shortly," team manager Bennet Mtshali confirmed today.

The highly-rated U-23 international, who has also attracted the attention of Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns, has been on trial with Norwegian side Oslo Lyn, but was unable to sign for the club as they had already used their full limit of foreign-born players.

Mofokeng, who failed to break into the highly talented midfield while with Ajax Amsterdam, is now back in South Africa and seems set to become the latest edition to the Dube Birds' already quality midfield.

Swallows have been in excellent form of late, but clearly coach Gavin Hunt still feels that there is room for improvement in his side, although Mofokeng will know that he cannot be guaranteed a starting place with the likes of Goodman Mazibuko, Albert Kometsi, Peter Rabolele and Samuel Ngobeni all more than capable performers in the middle of the park

The acquisition of 'Ninja' confirms the Swallows management's ambitious approach as they are still looking at strengthening their squad, despite the team's excellent good form of late.

Mtshali said that the management are still considering a number of other players, especially in defence after the departure of centre-back George 'Road Block' Hummel.

He also mentioned that the squad has a clean bill of health and are in high spirits ahead of their clash with Dynamos in Giyani on Saturday.
