Birds looking to end trophy drought
Moroka Swallows are determined to end their 13-year trophy drought when they take on Manning Rangers in the ABSA Cup final at Vodacom Park Stadium on Sunday.

The Birds' PRO Sipho Xulu says they are determined repay their fans for their outstanding support throughout the season by beating Rangers in Bloemfontein.

"It has been too long since we last won a silverware," he said at a media conference in Durban. "We have done everything in our power to restore the pride of the beautiful Dube Birds.

"Only this (ABSA) cup is left for us bring happiness to our loyal supporters. We know that it won't be easy to win against a club of Rangers' calibre, but we are determined."

However, Swallows will head into the match without star goalkeeper Greg Etafia, who is suspended for the clash after receiving a red card in his previous match, with Conrad Hendricks expected to replace him.

Meanwhile, Rangers coach Steve Komphela conceded that his side faces a tough task if they want to win the ABSA Cup on Sunday.

"We are confident that we will be able to do wonders in the final. We managed to reach it under difficult circumstances as we were also fighting for survival in this elite league," said Komphela.

Rangers' confidence will be boosted by the fact that they will head into the final with the tournament's two leading goalscorers in Alton Meiring and Kerryn Jordan, and the duo are also in line for the Player of the Tournament award.

The winner of each above-mentioned category will receive R33 333. The winning team will walk away with R1.5-million, while the runners-up will receive R900 000.
