Preview: Cosmos v Swallows

Moroka Swallows continue their quest to challenge for league honours when they travel to Rustenburg to take on Jomo Cosmos on Sunday afternoon.

The Dube Birds have been in great form of late, having scored late winners against Chiefs and Ajax Cape Town, and also having shown good commitment to fight back from behind in their games against Ajax Amsterdam and Black Leopards.

Orlando Pirates are still out in front as far as the league race is concerned, but with a large number of matches still to be played at their home fortress, the Rand Stadium, Swallows are still in with a good chance.

Birds captain Goodman Mazibuko says that the spirit in the camp at the moment is extremely high, and the players are focussed on bringing success to the club and its loyal supporters.

He is not expecting any favours from the Ezenkhosi on Sunday as Jomo Sono's men are renowned for their tough-tackling, physical approach to the game.

"Its going to be tough, Cosmos want to move out of the relegation zone, and after their big  defeat to Chiefs in midweek, they are going to come out fighting," said Mazibuko.

The skipper continued: "We need to be at our best - there is no point raising our game for the top teams if we go and throw away points to the bottom sides."

"Lately we shown that we have fighting spirit by coming back when we are down, and the game against Ajax has further boosted our morale."

Birds team manager Bennet Mtshali confirmed that defender Gary McNab is doubtful with a hamstring problem, while striker Shaun Permall looks to have recovered from  a knock he suffered in Cape Town.
