Preview: Swallows vs Silver Stars
Moroka Swallows entertain SIlver Stars in a Castle Premiership game at the Rand Stadium this afternoon.

Swallows go into the match on the back of a morale boosting 3-1 Absa Cup win over Ajax Cape Town last weekend.

They will, however, be without inspirational midfielder, Alfred Phiri, who has is suspended after having picked up three yellow cards. With the exception of long-term injury victims Shaun Permall, Ivan Winstanley and Rufus Mokoti, coach Gavin Hunt has a clean bill of health

Hunt has appealed to the Birds fans to make their way down to the Rand Stadium this afternoon in their numbers.

"In as much as the team has been playing well and putting in a 100% effort, the fans have not been coming out in their numbers to support them. The players are a bit upset at playing in front of small crowds," said Hunt.

The Dube Birds have still managed to turn their home ground, the Rand Stadium, into a fortress - they have not lost there in the last 18 months.

In the first round match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in October, the Soweto side managed a narrow 1-0 victory, courtesy of a goal by Dennis Lota. The evergreen Zambian has lead the Swallows attack well this season and Hunt will be looking to the veteran for more inspiration this afternoon.

He will, however, have to get the better of the up-and-coming Stars defender, Lefa Mogaila, who has caught the attention with some fine displays in recent weeks.

Silver Stars have received widespread recognition for the excellent brand of football they have been playing, however, they have not been able to convert this into goals, leaving coach Owen da Gama a frustrated man at times.

This was certainly the case against Orlando Pirates in the Absa Cup match on the weekend, a game which Stars should not have lost.

The club have looked to rectify this with the signing of the highly rated Zimbabwean Joel Luphahla, as well as former Cosmos striker Mark Haskins.
