Soweto make it 2-0 against Stars
Silver Stars lost their second game in the space of a few days to a Soweto club after they went down by a goal to nil against Moroka Swallows at the Rand Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

This result followed their elimination by Orlando Pirates in the Absa Cup on the weekend.

It was a case of 'not putting the good man down' as Birds skipper Goodman Mazibuko scored the only goal of the game.

Stars, as usual, created many chances but lady luck seemed to desert them on the day. Captain Dingane Masanabo was left to rue his failure to covert from the penalty spot in the 59th minute.

Mazibuko put the Dube Birds ahead in the 40th minute when he headed home a cross from Mohammed Ouseb.

In the 49th minute Warren Lewis came to the rescue of the home side when he cleared off the line from Michael Khaile.

Masababo came close for the Limpopo side in the 66th minute when he tested Greg Etafia, who did well to parry the ball for a corner.

Koketso Mmotong, who had been on the pitch for only two minutes, earned Stars a penalty when he was brought down by Bhekithemba Ndlovu in the 57th minute.

Etafia, who had been on the bench for the last few Swallows games, saved the day for the Birds by denying Masanabo.

Stars had a number of late chances, with Mmotong coming close in the 85th minute after he had out-stripped the home defence, while debutant Joel Luphahla struck the crossbar with a header.
