Bloemfontein Celtic caused a major upset when they knocked Sundowns out of the ABSA Cup with a 2-1 win at the Seisa Ramabodou Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Brazilians were hot favourites to progress to the semi-finals of the lucrative competition, but the home side had other ideas.
After a goalless first half, Celtic opened the scoring in the 46th minute when Cecil Oerson slammed home a volley after a near-post flick-on by Darrel Smith.
They doubled their lead eight minutes later when Man of the Match Lehlohonolo Seema capitalised on some more poor marking from a corner to head past the stranded keeper.
The visitors got back into the tie when Victor Dos Santos headed home from a corner, but that was as good as it got for the PSL side.
Celtic had a late goal disallowed for offside, while Godfre Sapula had a golden opportunity to force extra time with the last play of the game but his header from inside the six-yard box went over.
