Ajax Through To Absa Cup Semis 20/04/03
Ajax Cape Town won through to the semi-finals of the ABSA Cup courtesy of a 3-1 win over First Division side Alexandra United on Sunday afternoon.

The Urban Warriors have been struggling in the Premier Soccer League this season and have a huge survival fight on their hands, but their Cup form has been impressive and it continued in the quarter-finals.

However, United, boosted by a partisan home crowd, started the brighter and took the lead in the 14th minute when Josep Ngake headed past his own keeper.

But the visitors fought back and were rewarded on the stroke of halftime when Dillon Sheppard, playing his first game since a lengthy injury lay-off, stabbed the ball home after a goalmouth scramble.

Gordon Igesunds team took the lead for the first time in the 62nd minute through Bradley August, before Namibian Robert Nauseb sealed matters with a powerful drive which left Tebogo Sempe in the United goal with no chance.

Both teams had a couple of chances to add to the scoreline, but its Ajax who go through to Mondays semi-final draw along with Santos, Bloemfontein Celtic and Jomo Cosmos.
