Calvin Marlin was the hero on Sunday as Supersport United beat Sundowns 2-0 at Loftus.
The former Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper pulled off a number of impressive saves to deny the Brazilians and allow Pitso Mosimanes side three points that moved them up to fourth in the Premier Soccer League table.
He denied Downs striker Victor Dos Santos twice in the first 30 minutes, while he also pulled off two great saves near the end to keep United in the lead.
After the early pressure from the home side, midfielder Chris Mwamba fired Supersport into the lead after running onto a great pass from Thando Mngomeni.
They doubled their lead, and secured the points, when striker Abram Raselemane slotted past keeper Wendell Robinson from Mandla Zwanes pinpoint freekick in the 55th minute.
They had a couple of other chances to add to their lead, most notably when Mngomenis shot thundered back off the crossbar, but Mosimane will nonetheless be happy with the result.
The loss leaves Sundowns down in ninth place and in danger of not reaching the lucrative Top Eight competition next season.
