Ajax Cape Town have moved quickly to deny star midfielder Dillon Sheppard is heading for Premier Soccer League rivals Kaizer Chiefs, as reported in some of the local media on Wednesday.
A club spokesman confirmed that the player is looking at options away from the Urban Warriors, but that this would involve a move out of South Africa.
He begins an eight day trial with one of the top Moscow teams in Russia this weekend, meaning he will miss the Bafana Bafana matches against Trinidad and Tobago (friendly international) and Ivory Coast (African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Sheppard has been one of the stalwarts of the Ajax team over the past few seasons and is a highly-rated individual within the South African game.
It is no secret that Chiefs have been interested in signing him for a while, but Ajax feel it would be counter-productive to their aims to sell a player of his quality to their local rivals.
