Spiderman Left Out For Burundi 26/06/03
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brian "Spiderman" Baloyi has been dropped from the Bafana Bafana side for the crucial African Nations Cup qualifier against Burundi on July 6.

Baloyi had recently been given a chance to establish himself as the number one goalkeeper in the country in the World Cup 2010 bid games against England, Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica, but failed to grab the opportunity with both hands after some uncharacteristically weak performances.

Andre Arendse then was recalled to the team for the African Nations Cup qualifier against the Ivory Coast last Sunday. The former Santos man, who has just signed for Sundowns, provided the necessary stability, composure and experience that had been lacking, and rightfully keeps his place in the team.

Coach Shakes Mashaba has decided he needs just two keepers for the trip to Burundi, giving this as the reason that the Amakhosi shot stopper has been omitted.

Promising young Ajax Cape Town keeper Moeneeb Josephs, who has yet to taste action for Bafana, will again provide the cover for Arendse.

The Russian based trio of Japhet Zwane, Jacob Lekgetho and Macbeth Sibaya been included in the squad, but contrary to our earlier report, Bennet Mnguni has not been included.

Sibusiso Zuma is also back after helping his club win the Danish championship, while defender Bradley Carnell also returns after recently having completed his move to another team in the Bundesliga- Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The complete South African squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Andre Arendse (Sundowns), Moeneeb Josephs (Ajax Cape Town)

Defenders: Mbulelo Mabizela, Lucky Lekgwathi (both Orlando Pirates), Bradley Carnell (Borrisia Moenchengladbach, Germany), Thabang Molefe (Jomo Cosmos), Tony Coyle (Wits), Jacob Lekgetho (Locomotiv Moscow, Russia), Aaron Mokoena (Germinal Beerschot, Belgium)

Midfielders: Stanton Fredericks, Jabu Mendu (both Kaizer Chiefs), Japhet Zwane (Roston FC, Russia), Delron Buckley (Vfl Bochum, Germany), Clement Mazibuko (Bush Bucks), Godfrey Sapula (Sundowns), Toboho Mokoena (Cosmos), Steven Pienaar (Ajax
Amsterdam, Holland), Benson Mhlongo (Wits), Macbeth Sibaya (Rubin, Russia), Sibusiso Zuma (FCCopenhagen, Denmark).

Strikers: Benni McCarthy (Celta Vigo, Spain), Shaun Bartlett (Charlton Athletic, England), Siyabonga Nomvete (Udeinese, Italy)
