Ajax Cape Town is set to play against a Guguletu invitational side in NY 49 on August 9, at 10h00. The game is part of the Urban Warriors' pre-season preparations, as well as the belief of Ajax to take the game to the townships.
Last month Ajax Cape Town held two coaching clinics in the townships, the first of which took place at Nyanga Stadium that was attended by over 300 young hopefuls.
The second took place two weeks ago when the coaching clinic was held at Langa Stadium and that too was well attended. Innocent Mayoyo, who is the current reserve goalkeeper of the Ajax Cape Town Premier Soccer League team and a junior youth coach at Ajax, conducted the clinic with the assistance of a number of the Ajax scouts.
To the surprise of the youngsters they were treated to a visit of the Tottenham Hotspur team, who were in the country as part of the South African 2010 Bid Campaign.
Meanwhile, Ajax Cape Town is holding an "Ajax Family Day" for all the families of junior and senior players as well as all their fans on Saturday, 23 August 2003.
The open day enables the fans to come face to face with their heroes and engage them in conversation or have photos taken.
Besides jumping castles, face painting and an autograph and photo session, there will be a game between the Ajax staff and their supporters.
