Black Leopards could not take advantage of a 10-man Santos team as The People's team won 2-1 at the Athlone Stadium on Sunday.
Marawaan Bantam scored the winner late in extra time and this became their third consecutive home win in the Castle Premiership.
Jean-Marc Ithier scored the first goal for Santos but Leopards fought back and equalised before the break.
Kamaal Sait handled Christopher Netshidzivhe's strike on goal and was shown the red card. Netshidzivhe stepped up for the penalty and slotted the ball past Santos goalkeeper Brenden Wardle.
The teams went into the break 1-1.
Lidoda Duvha had a chance to take the lead in the 52nd minute but Fernando Matola, with only Wardle to beat, shot wide.
Bantam, who scored a brace against Sundowns, was the hero again as he netted the winner in extra-time.
It was a hard fought victory for the 2001/2002 Castle Premiership champions.
The win sees Santos moving in to second place on the Castle Premiership log with 10 points from five games.
