Papi: We Won't Miss OJ 06/10/03
Orlando Pirates captain Papi Khomane believes the Buccaneers will successfully defend their PSL crown despite losing the inspirational services of Mbulelo OJ Mabizela, according to a report in a leading local soccer publication.

Speaking to Soccer Ladumas Full Time magazine the 28-year-old centre-back downplayed Mabizelas close season move to English giants Tottenham Hotspur.

I dont think the departure of Mbulelo Mabizela will affect us that much, Khomane is quoted as saying.

It was good for Mabizela to get a chance to go and play in England. I believe in the team we have. We just need to work hard.

The 28-year-old also dispels rumours of a crisis at the Soweto glamour club.

I believe that we will defend our title. We know what is expected of us. The team that we have consists of excellent individual players.

The former Bafana Bafana player says the team will not be able to rest on its laurels because, as champions, the leagues other 15 teams will be gunning for them.

But we are ready for that!

We have a balanced team at Pirates.

Pirates trail league leaders and archrivals Kaizer Chiefs by five points after six games of the new campaign.
