Reader's Views On The Ref Saga... 10/10/03
Bad refereeing decisions have once again been tarring the image of the beautiful game in our country and the SASoccer365 readers have had plenty to say on the matter...

We start by airing the views of an understandably irate Santos fan, Hadley Lakay, and then to prove that we are interested in hearing both sides of the story, we hear what Chiefs supporter Raymond Khamandisa has to say...

I am a Santos supporter, and have been for 10 years. I can tell you though, that incidents like these not only make me EXTREMELY angry, but also lower my enthusiasm for the game in SA, as well as cause me not to want to go and watch my team anymore.

I have seen the same things happening in the game for years (Chiefs and Pirates being favoured), and that was always in matches not being televised, and mostly away matches. Now they are starting to do it at a Santos home match, and the match is on televison.

The saddest thing is that Radebe (Enoch) will be referreing again next week, and Santos will be robbed again the following week.

Regards

Hadley Lakay

I feel your article on referees is biased against Chiefs. What do you mean all unfair decisions favour Chiefs? Some questionable decisions this season alone that did not favour Chiefs are:

1.Pirates have already scored twice from the penalty spot in dubious circumstances.
2.Supersport scored a brilliant goal against Dynamos in the Super 8 but the referee disallowed it.
3.Swallows scored a dubious goal against Golden Arrows and it was allowed to stand.
4.Supersport were again denied a legitimate goal against Silver Stars this weekend.
5.The Swallows keeper was sent off for handling the ball even though it hit his face.
6.Chiefs were denied penalties in league matches against Wits and Sundowns.
7.Jabu Pule scored a brilliant solo goal against Hellenic, beating three Hellenic players and the goalkeeper, yet the referee ruled that the ball was out even though not the whole circumference did not cross the line.

Why is it that no noise was made about these incidents? If they had favoured Chiefs there would have been the usual noise!

The problem as I see it is the SABC.It is obvious that the producers are Pirates fans. Why else would they only hire Pirates supporters as presenters? I know for a fact that Walter Mokoena,Robert Marawa and David Kekana are Pirates fans. Therefore they are always trying to put Chiefs in a bad light. All decisions that advantage Chiefs are magnified and those that disadvantage them are ignored. Perhaps Kaizer should just pull Chiefs off the screens.

Raymond Khamandisa

The officiating in this country leaves much to be desired. It all started when a certain team was on the verge of winning that elusive trophy for the fourth time (League championship). It is appaling to witness substandard refereeing week in week out.If the situation is not corrected as soon as possible, the stands will forever remain empty.

Fair play the men in black

Maponya Tjatji

Hi sir

I am very very disappointed the way Chiefs won the Coca Cola game against Santos.First of all I am a Sundowns supporter.  When people say money talks they mean these things.

Chiefs is a big club and it's got a lot of money so we do not know if they didn't buy the ref.Even when they beat me (Sundowns) in the Telkom charity final I had a clean goal but the ref said Mambush was offside, so really if Chiefs do things this way they are destroying South African football.

We cannot say ref didn't see that handball because it happened in front of him and we cannot even blame the ref because maybe Chiefs gave him some money to keep him blind/to make sure that Chiefs wins no matter what.
