Kaizer Chiefs have four key players out with injury as they prepare for the crucial Coca-Cola Cup quarterfinal clash against Ajax Cape Town at Ellis Park on Saturday.
According to the official Kaizer Chiefs website, Player of the Year, Stanton 'Stiga' Fredericks, is battling with a groin injury that has been on and off for some time now.
Stiga did not play a part in the 1-0 Castle Premiership victory against Jomo Cosmos at FNB Stadium on Saturday due to this injury.
Former Ajax defender David Kannemeyer is also battling with an knock sustained while on national duty with Bafana Bafana.
In the matches against Lesotho and Costa Rica he aggravated an inner thigh muscle, which is unfortunate given that the attacking left-back has just regained the form that prompted Chiefs to buy him from the Cape club.
Utility midfielder Nhlanhla Kubeka, who is still to play in a Castle Premiership game, has broken his toe in training four weeks ago.
Kubeka was promoted from the Amakhosi Youth Academy in the winter.
Another Chiefs youth product, Junior 'Aghahowa' Khanye, injured his quadriceps at training last week but should be ready within the next week.
