Benni McCarthy once again got on the score-sheet as his team Porto scored a comfortable 3-0 victory over Beira Mar in a Portuguese Premier League match on Sunday.
McCarthy's goal came in the 75th minute from some neat build-up play and the former Bafana Bafana international finished in style from 20-metres out.
The win puts Porto, who are the reigning Uefa Cup Champions, five points clear of Sporting Lisbon at the top of the league.
The goal will be certainly be taken note of by Bafana Bafana manager Shakes Mashaba, who decided to leave the on-form McCarthy out of the up-coming African Cup of Nations squad.
McCarthy was one of the few South Africans who did star for their overseas clubs this weekend - neither Shaun Bartlett or Mark Fish featured in Charlton's 0-0 draw with Middlesborough, while Mbulelo Mabizela came on as a 54th minute substitute in Spurs 4-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
Quinton Fortune's Manchester United team scored a convincing 3-1 win over their local rivals, Manchester City, but the Cape Town-born player did not feature as he remained on the bench.
Steven Pienaar has still not returned from the knee injury which has been keeping him out of action for Ajax Amsterdam - his team beat FC Utrecht 1-0 in his absence.
