The Soweto derby did not live up to expectations but soccer fans came in their thousands. And as always there were accusations and counter accusations after the match from the two sides.
The man who was in the middle of the show, Jerome Damon, is been accused of not awarding a penaIty to Orlando Pirates.
"I don't know why we have FIFA rules in South Africa, because our referees apparently apply their own," said the defeated coach, Augusto Palacios.
The referee in this derby had booked Pirates' winger Joseph Makhanya for diving in the penalty area. But Orlando Pirates caretaker coach thinks that Buti Sithole, the Kaizer Chiefs defender, had brought him down.
The Amakhosi coach, Ted Dumitru, who had been crying about the standard of the refs in the league during the run-up to this derby thought otherwise: "From my position, that was no penalty," he said of the incident.
