South African midfield sensation Steven 'Schillo' Pienaar has been selected by Uefa.com with the elite footballers of Europe in a poll to find the 'Team of the Year' on their website, which has over three million users.
Uefa.com readers can vote for their favourite player in each position, including the coach, and depending on how many votes a player in his respective position recieves, he will then be part of this online 'dream team' to be announced in January.
Pienaar is one of five players selected for the right midfield position and is also the youngest of this outstanding quintet.
Luis Figo, Karel Poborsky, Andy Van Der Meyde and Valeri Karpin are the other distinguished choices you can make for this midfield berth.
Considering that Figo was Fifa Player of the Year in 2001 and that Pienaar has been nominated alongside this Real Madrid and Portuguese maestro augurs well for the young man who hails from Westbury in Johannesburg.
Schillo, as he is known by friends and fans in South Africa, is one of two Africans in the entire selection of players, the other being Ajax Amsterdam team-mate and Tunisian international right-back Hatem Trabelsi.
