Swallows Beat Lowly Hellenic 17/12/03
Moroka Swallows have bounced back from their recent defeat at the hands of Ajax Cape Town to beat another Cape side, Hellenic, 2-0 at the Rand Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The Birds did not have it all their own way in a tough encounter against a side who have taken just two points from a possible 39 this season.

But Gavin Hunt's side have now moved up to second in the Castle Premiership, for a few hours at least, with their eighth win of the season, thanks to goals from the inform Lucas Sebona and substitute Alois Ngwerume.

The first half saw the home side gain much of the possession, though they were unable to create many clear-cut chances in front of goal.

Indeed, Greek Gods goalkeeper Gareth Ormshaw was only called into action once in the opening period, making a fine save from Peter Rabolele five minutes before halftime.

Hunt would have given his charges a stern talking to in the break and the Birds came out with renewed vigour in the second half.

The breakthrough finally came just after the hour-mark as Sebona let fly with a 30-yard effort that flew into the top corner, leaving a helpless Ormshaw with no chance.

The young visiting keeper Ormshaw made another fine save from Ngwerume soon afterwards, but the Zimbabwean had the last laugh as he sealed the points for the Birds in the 74th minute, beating the Hellenic goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.

Swallows next league appointment is against Jomo Cosmos on Sunday at the Makhulong Stadium, while Hellenic face Sundowns at the Athlone Stadium on the same day.
