Retired Bafana Bafana legend Lucas Radebe has suffered yet another bad injury playing for Leeds United in the English Premiership.
The club announced that 34-year-old defender will be out for at least nine weeks after tearing a hamstring playing against Manchester City on Monday night.
Radebe has battled a series of devastating injuries over the years but has always managed to confound skeptics by getting back to match fitness.
Again this season he has spent time on the sidelines but his return to the Leeds starting XI has coincided with a revival of the embattled Yorkshire club.
The clubs assistant manager Kevin Blackwell acknowledged that Radebe would be sorely missed.
"We have not had him for most of the season through injury, but then when we get him back it is no coincidence that we start doing well," he said.
"He has torn his hamstring completely. He heard it snap straight away."
Now in the twilight of an illustrious career, it is testament to the esteem that the former Kaizer Chiefs player is held that he does not do regular training with the Leeds squad in order to prolong his stay at the club for as long as possible.
