Amaglug-glug coach Conti Kubheka remains upbeat about his charges chances of qualifying for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens despite their shock setback defeat on Saturday.
The national under-23 team lost 1-0 to Zambia in Potchefstroom which consigned them to the bottom of their qualifying group with only three matches still to play.
Kubheka, though, told Business Day newspaper on Monday that a ticket to Athens is still in the offering.
"I appeal to the public not to panic, because the war is far from over," he is quoted as saying.
"If we beat them (Zambia) in the return leg (next month), we will be back in the picture. So the war is still on."
On Saturdays loss to a cash-strapped team who had traveled from Lusaka by bus, Kubheka rued his teams missed chances.
"We simply could not finish off our chances," Kubheka said. "We were in their (penalty) box on numerous occasions but just could not beat their goalkeeper."
"I had a pep talk with the players after the game and they are still determined that they will qualify for the Olympics," he added.
