Birds flight for league domination continues 21/02/04
Premier Soccer League (PSL) challengers Moroka Swallows fought off a rampant Silver Stars to win their Castle Premiership clash 1-0 at the Rand Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Dennis Lota scored the only goal of the game to continue the Birds quest for a first league title since 1969 when they won the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL).

Mark McVeigh had a rare start for the Dube Birds and it was his free kick which Lota connected with to give Swallows an early lead in the 10th minute of a pulsating encounter.

Stars strikers Surprise Moriri and Dinagane Masanabo were unable to reply for the visitors much to the frustration of former Swallows golden-boy and now coach of the Premiership rookies Owen Da Gama.

Swallows are joint in third place with Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs who have 36 points while the Lions of the North remain on 19 points having played 19 Premiership games.
