Mashaba to give Bucs the Shakes 27/02/04
Former Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba takes charge of Black Leopards for the first time on Saturday when they clash with the club he served with distinction as a player, Orlando Pirates.

The Absa Cup first round match is set for the Johannesburg Stadium and has the added spice of pitting Mashaba against the club of Irvin Khoza - the man seen by many as being behind Mashabas axing as national coach on the eve of the Africa Cup of Nations in early January.

Looking to Saturdays game (kickoff 3.15pm), Mashaba said he expected a very tough encounter against a well-drilled and extremely talented Pirates team.

"We are coming to Johannesburg to fight," vowed Mashaba, who last coached at club level almost a decade ago.

Pirates are a very good team but they will not intimidate us. I expect a tough match but I also expect my players to rise to the occasson.

Meanwhile, Pirates assistant coach Harris Choeu was expecting Lidoda Duvha to be an extremely difficult nut to crack.
Mashaba is a very good coach and I am sure you will see that in Leopards play, he said.

We will need to be at our very best but if we concentrate and keep things tight at the back then I think we will move safely into the next round of the competition.

The reigning Castle Premiership champions will be without defender Jimmy Tau and midfielder Daniel Tshabalala through injury.
