Manning Rangers were made to sweat for their Absa cup victory over Coastal First Division team FC Fortune at the Athlone Stadium on Friday night.
The Mighty Maulers only secured their victory in the 27th minute of extra time after the teams had been level at 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes.
The First Division side seemed set to pull off an upset after they scored twice in the first half - Brent Arendse opened the scoring as early as the third minute and then Zeka Karkee doubled the lead in the 28th minute.
But newly signed Rangers striker Keryn Jordan put his side back into the game when he capitalized on a defensive error in the 74th minute and then levelled matters three minutes before full time with a header.
Fortune had their chances to win the game in extra time, but it was not to be as the Durban side were awarded a penalty which Jordan duly converted to claim his hat-trick and send Roy Barreto's men into the last 16.
