First win for Shakes 10/03/04
Shakes Mashaba scored his first win since taking over at Black Leopards after his team ran out 2-1 winners against Jomo Cosmos at the Rand Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Ironically the victory came against Jomo Sono, who had constantly been touted to take over the Bafana Bafana hotseat from Mashaba during his troubled spell as the national team manager.

The first stanza saw very little goalmouth action with both teams struggling to find any penetration up front.

Lidoda Duhva then came out and took the game to their hosts in the second half and took the lead in the 48th minute when Godfrey Ramudzuli headed home Wonder Nhleko's cross.

In the 64th minute Nhleko got onto the score-sheet himself when he converted a penalty after Kelvin Mushangazhike had been brought down in the box by Cosmos midfielder Lucky Mhlathi.

The Ezenkhosi scored a late consolation goal through their new signing from SuperSport United, Seuntjie Motlhawja following a goalmouth scramble in the 76th minute.

The result sees no change in the log positions of both sides - Leopards remain in ninth position but are now equal on points with eighth placed Golden Arrows, while Cosmos are still rooted in 11th position, only six points above the relegation zone.
