Preview: Stars v Ajax 19/03/04
Ajax Cape Town will be looking to bounce back from their 0-0 midweek draw with Kaizer Chiefs as they challenge for their first Castle Premiership title with three-time league winning coach Gordon Igesund.

At the same time rookies Silver Stars will be wanting to edge away from the relegation zone when they host the Urban Warriors in a Castle Premiership game at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Ajax thrashed Stars 4-0 in their first round encounter at Newlands last year, a hiding coach Owen Da Gama's men have not forgotten, yet three points, and not revenge, will be their main aim when they entertain the team from the Mother city.

The Lions of the North are sitting on 12th position with 19 points, three points having been deducted from the team after they fielded an illegible player, and they are on the border of the relegation zone, just nine points above bottom club Hellenic.

Igesund knows exactly what it feels like to fight off relegation as the Urban Warriors finished 13th during their last league campaign, just retaining their Premiership status on the very last day of the season.

The situation is the opposite this term as Ajax are in a favourable position - joint second with 41 points - to lift the coveted league championship trophy.

Ajax will be hoping that Sundowns can do them a favour by beating their main rivals for the title, Kaizer Chiefs, when those two teams clash at the Odi Stadium on Sunday.

If Chiefs fail to win the game in Pretoria and Santos are unable to beat Golden Arrows on Friday night, the Urban Warriors could well find themselves top of the log come Sunday evening.

They will, however, first need to put all their energy into beating Stars, who on their day have proven be a handful for any team in the Castle Premiership with their hard running and pacy forwards such as Surprise Moriri, Dingane Masanabo and  Manqoba Mkhize.

The heat up north is also likely to be a major factor and Igesund's warriors will have to be both mentally and physically on top of their game if they are to come away with the desired three points.
