Tornado confident of blowing away Birds 01/04/04
Tornado FC will not be intimidated by their Castle Premiership opponents Moroka Swallows in their Absa Cup match at the Rand Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

"We have came a long way to be where we are in the Absa Cup. We beat Maritzburg United  2-1 to qualify for the last 16 teams in this Cup competition and we intend to go even further," said Rogers Relu, the PRO of the East London-based Tornado FC.

The Vodacom Second Division club, who have lost out on being promoted to the Coastal First Division after finishing third in their league, believe they have what it takes to cause a major upset against Swallows.

Relu said that the fear factor amongst the Birds players is what will make his team win.

"Swallows will be under a lot much pressure when they play against us. They will be aware of the expectations their fans place upon them and will be trying to avoid an embarrassing loss to an amateur team like Tornado FC, which will suit our us 100%," said Relu.

The Absa Cup represents a last chance for the East London team to take some glory from what was, for them, a rather disappointing campaign.

"The players know that Absa Cup is the only thing that is left for them to play for this season and beating Moroka Swallows will at least make-up for missing promotion into the first division."
