Golden Arrows coach Simon Ngobanes decision to employ five defenders against Wits backfired as they went down 1-0 to the Clever Boys in a Castle Premiership clash at Kings Park Soccer Stadium on Sunday.
An 11th minute goal by Wits Gabonese striker Itiene Bito'o, after some good interplay with captain Charles Yohane, saw Roger De Sas team travel back to Johannesburg with a full three points.
Wits also had a goal by Alois Bunjira ruled out for offside in the second half.
Arrows, after their stunning win over title chasing Ajax Cape Town last weekend, were back to their usual inconsistent selves as they slumped to defeat in a match in which they looked totally bereft of ideas.
Ngobane elected to start with five defenders - Leslie Langa, Siphiwe Mkhonza, Thulani Ndlovu, Sakhile Mhlangu and Siyabonga Khanyile but still could not keep Wits at bay.
Referee Morne Daniels dished out two yellow cards to the visitors Anton Greyling and Bunjira.
