Mazibuko dominates Birds awards evening 17/06/04
Moroka Swallows and sponsor TOTAL rewarded some of the players and staff of the club in a glittering banquet held at the Birchwood Hotel on Wednesday evening.

The 140 people included players and their spouses, shareholders, sponsors and 25 media. Hands of Stone Ledwaba also attended the event together with his beautiful wife.

The evenings MC Robert Marawa, was his usual best with his off the cuff remarks.  Speeches were made by Leon Prins (CEO), Gavin Hunt (Coach) and Peter Kwele (TOTALs Marketing Manager) with the keynote speech from the PSLs Trevor Phillips.

Captain Goodman Mazibuko was rewarded for an excellent season by winning both the Players Player of the Year and TOTAL Player of the Year awards.

The recipients of the awards were:

TOTAL Appreciation Award - Fan of the year : Lazarus

TOTAL Appreciation Award - Clubman of the Year : Jeff Moroka (Swallows driver) & Phillip 'Juniour' Molefe (Kit Manager)

Swallows Appreciation Award - Pierre Vorster (Rand Stadium)

Swallows Appreciation Award - Bennet Mtshali (Team Manager)

Swallows Sponsors Recognition Awards - TOTAL, Reebok, Birchwood Hotel

TOTAL Female Player of the Year - Rhoda Maphosa

Golden Boot Award - Dennis Lota

Most Improved Player of the Year - Lungisani Ndlela

Players Player of the Year - Goodman Mazibuko

TOTAL Player of the Year - Goodman Mazibuko

The event was televised by MTNs Soccerzone and was covered by the leading soccer newspapers and magazines.

Dennis Lota was extremely funny is his speech when he told the audience of the story when he was swimming back home in Zambia and a crocodile grabbed his leg. Since then he has been collecting many awards.

Lazarus, the fanatical fan was overjoyed at the players generosity whom collected money for himself.  His speech was a true highlight and very funny as he said 'hello' to his wife and kids, knowing that he was on TV

TOTAL donated prizes to the value of R50 000 to the winners.

The ABSA cup winners ended the evening dancing to the band Fantasy.
