Motsepe accused of making empty promises 17/06/04
Mining magnate and owner of Sundowns football club, Patrice Motsepe, has been accused by a Limpopo community of failing to live up to his promises.

According to residents in the rural area, Motsepe made promises that he would contribute to the improvement of infrastructure in the area if he was given permission to establish a mine.

But residents say that nothing has been done to improve their lives, and they also claim that the water tables have dropped dramatically in the area, causing a serious shortage.

The Sundowns boss also promised that jobs would be created for locals, but residents say that this has not happened - instead workers from as far a field as KZN have been hired.

A spokesman for Motsepe's company denied many of these accusations, but on inspection the SABC 3 Special assignment team found very little evidence of development going on, rather just angry residents.
