Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter could delay the announcement of his squad ahead of their crucial 2006 World Cup qualifier with Burkina Faso on July 3.
Baxter will meet South African Football Association officials this week to hear where he stands with some of his overseas-based players, who have failed to pitch up.
The team arrived in Johannesburg on Monday following their 3-0 loss to Ghana in Kumasi on Sunday, with Baxter fuming over the late withdrawals from the squad.
Baxter is expected to name his squad on Wednesday, but could delay the announcement for the July 3 clash in Potchefstroom.
"I am concerned by the number of late withdrawals I had from the squad," he said.
"Some were genuine and others had question-marks against them. I need to be given a clear directive from SAFA as to selection policy.
"I need to know who is available for selection and who is not.
"The last thing I want is players pulling out for any reason, unless it is a serious injury," Baxter said.
"I have been in charge for three months and two matches and have had to chop and change because of players pulling out at the last minute."
Baxter also refused to make any excuses for their dismal performance against Ghana.
"We knew before we arrived that the pitch was in poor condition and we did not expect any favours from match officials.
"That is no excuse for our defeat. The simple fact is that Ghana adapted to the conditions and played better than we did."
