Orlando Pirates caretaker coach Augusto Palacios has not managed to find a goal poacher like the late Lesley Manyathela, but is still not interested in enlisting the services of last season's top goal scorer, Jackie Ledwaba.
The Peru-born coach was quoted in the latest edition of Fulltime magazine as saying he is not sure whether Ledwaba has the mental capacity to play for a huge team like Pirates.
"Yes, he has certainly done well to score goals in a team that is fighting relegation," Palacious admitted to FullTime.
"But playing for Pirates comes with a lot of pressure, even more pressure than when you are fighting relegation.
"Even if you are a good player it's not easy to play for Bucs. As a striker it is even harder because it is the position where the pressure is the greatest."
Ledwaba was the top goal scorer in the just-ended season, but a month after claiming that prize, no team have rushed for his signature and Palacios said as much as every coach would want to sign a top striker, he is not committing himself to the Limpopo born striker but he will wait and see what will happen in the new season.
"But I do believe Jackie is a good player, perhaps he could do a job for Pirates, we will have to wait and see," said the Sea Robbers stand-in coach.
Ledwaba may be left without any choice but to play in the lower league with his Durban-based Royals because none of the teams in the Castle Premiership have moved for him yet.
