At PSL Place today the Premier Soccer League announced that Sizwe Nzimande would be the new Chief Operating Officer of the PSL, and that he would be starting his new job on the 1st of September 2004 in time for the new season.
Nzimande's primary role will be assisting Trevor Phillips in the day to day running and house keeping of the Premier Soccer League. Nzimande was the final candidate from a list of people chosen and interviewed by Phillips.
Mr Phillips feels that Sizwe will form an intricate part of the PSL team and in the development of a strong League to rival the best.
Sizwe comes to the PSL from ABSA, where he held the position of Marketing Manager looking after ABSA Sponsorships and Events.
The list of sponsorships ranged from the ABSA Cup, the ABSA Currie Cup, the South African Domestic Rugby League, the ABSA Athletics Series, which is the backbone of the South African track and field season right up to the sponsorship of Nafcoc.
Sizwe has been involved in a number of notable sponsorships in South Africa. He was involved in the Rothmans Cup as a Representative for British American Tobacco (BAT), and focused on promoting the event in the townships and cities of KZN, and he was also involved in the memorable Peter Stuyvesant Music Spectaculars also with BAT.
Sizwe brings with him a wealth of sponsorship experience and knowledge of the South African sponsorship landscape. This knowledge will no doubt be coupled with the vast experience and expertises of people like Andrew Dipela, Professor Ronnie Schloss, Mr. Dan Leboa and Mr Trevor Phillips to form a formidable team to take the PSL towards 2010 and beyond.
