Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter is determined that Manchester United's Quinton Fortune will play in the international friendly against Tunisia, despite the club's insistence that the player is not 100% fit.
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is claiming that Fortune is suffering with a knee problem after he picked up a knock against Arsenal in last weekend's Charity Shield.
However, the Cape Town-born player has since gone on to play in both a midweek Champion's League qualifying game, as well as Sunday's Premiership loss to Chelsea.
Baxter has promised Ferguson that he will only use Fortune for one half of the game and will try and make sure that he returns to Old Trafford in good shape.
Wednesday's friendly will be Fortune's first game for the country in two years after he fell out with previous coach Shakes Mashaba.
Baxter is also currently fighting for the services of midfielder Macbeth Sibaya, whose Russian club, Rubin Kazan, are reluctant to let him go for the Tunisia clash.
South Africa next World Cup qualifier is on 5 September when they travel to Kinshasa to face the DR Congo.
