Wits ready for Pirates 21/08/04
Wits University coach Roger de Sa says his side is well prepared for Sunday's SAA Supa 8 clash with Orlando Pirates at the Bidvest Stadium.

With the exception of Charles Yohane, De Sa has a full-strength squad to choose from and the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper is confident his underdogs can spring a surprise on Sunday.

"We have a strong squad, but we will miss Charles (Yohane)," said De Sa. " Supersport is a good side with quality players, so we expect a very tough match.

"Pitso's team is always up there challenging for the title and play a good brand of football, but we have done our homework. I feel confident."

De Sa also conceded that Wits were hoping to improve on last season's fourth place finish in the Castle Premiership and hopefully qualify for some African competition.

" We looking to improve on last season's finish," he added. "We finished in the top five for the last two or three years and it is time we take the next step up. We can improve."

The Wits coach also dispelled rumours suggesting Ernest Mtawali will be joining the Students.

"Ernest is a very good friend of mine since the days when we played together at Sundowns," he added.

"He trains with us for at least two weeks every year and his son Patrick plays for us.

"Ernest will not be joining Wits. We simply cannot afford him."
