Kaizer Chiefs spokesperson Putco Mafani has been cleared of all charges relating to his court case regarding the assault on his wife after the case was withdrawn.
Mafani was accused of assaulting his wife at their home in Naturena earlier this year and made his first court appearance on April 1 this year and was out on R2 000 bail.
However, the National Prosecution Authority said there was a possibility of the charges being withdrawn if Mafani attended certain courses.
The Amakhosi official attended the courses at the National Institute for the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Nicro), who in turn sent back a report on his progress.
"We looked at the report and we decided to withdraw the matter. The magistrate was quite satisfied," said Thoko Majokweni, a special director of public prosecutions.
Former justice minister, Penuell Maduna, said at the time of the arrest: "It is completely inexcusable and I will ensure this person is arrested, prosecuted and sentenced.
"You just don't do this to someone you apparently love."
