Wits hold awards evening 02/09/04
Wits University recently held their 2003/04 end of season awards ceremony at the Balalaika hotel and Bafana Bafana midfielder Benson Mhlongo walked off with the grand prize.

Mhlongo really came to the fore for the Clever Boys last season after his move from SuperSport United, and it was him who was the driving force behind another successful season for the Clever Boys and was certainly a worthy winner of the Player of the year award.

Mhlongo, who did not join the mass exodus of Wits players to depart the club at the end of last season, was also nominated by his team-mates as the Players' Player of the year.

The Most Improved player of the year went to former Golden Arrows defender Leonard Qaba, while Young Player of the year award was scooped up by playmaker Sipho Mngomezulu.

The winners were:
Player of the year - Benson Mhlongo
Players' Player of the year - Benson Mhlongo
Most Improved player of the year  - Leonard Qaba
Young Player of the year - Sipho Mngomezulu
Top Goal Scorer - Alois Bunjira
Club man of the year - Ashley Makhanya
