The spirit in the Urban Warriors camp is soaring once again after their victory over Dynamos last weekend, according to skipper Bradley August.
The Cape team have not had the best of starts to their current campaign, but things are certainly looking up after Saturday's hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Limpopo side, in which debutant Norman Mpeza scored a late goal.
"It was a fantastic result for us - after losing in the last minute against Jomo Cosmos in our previous match, it was great to bounce back with a win," said August.
"This was also our first away win of the season, (our only other point in an away match was from a draw against Wits), so the players are feeling great.
"I spoke to Gordon this morning and said that the spirit in the camp is very high - we are starting to feel like last season again when we did so well."
Ajax still have a game in hand on the three teams above them, and a win against Abafana Bes'thende on Friday night will see them right back in contention in the Premier Soccer League.
"We now have 17 points and are up there with the big boys again - the likes of Pirates, Sundowns, Swallows and Chiefs - and we plan to win again on Friday against Golden Arrows, which will take us up to 20 points and put us right back in contention for the league race.
The former Bafana Bafana player also mentioned that the venue for Friday's game is still to be decided - Newlands and Athlone Stadiums are unavailable due to work being done on the pitches, while the Green Point Stadium is set to host a carnival and the pitch is not expected to be playable after that.
August said that an announcement as to the whereabouts of the game will be made shortly.
