Orlando Pirates stretched their unbeaten run in the Castle Premiership to 12 matches, following their 2-0 win over Supersport United on Saturday afternoon.
Goals by Steve Lekoelea and Lebohang Mokoena secured the three points for the Buccaneers as trey stretched their lead at the top to eight points over second placed Sundowns.
The match started with both sides looking set on playing very open football as they took the game to each other.
However, the first real chance was only created in the 16th minute when Tyren Arendse forced United keeper Calvin Marlin into a spectacular save to deny the former Santos star from breaking the deadlock.
Pirates striker Phumudzo Manenzhe almost opened the scoring in the 28th minute, but his header sailed just over the crossbar.
But the Buccaneers were not to be denied and deservedly made it 1-0 when they were awarded an indirect free-kick inside the Supersport area following dangerous play by the defence, and Lekoelea stepped up to blast a low shot past Marlin to hand the home side the lead.
Matsatsantsa should have equalised a minute later when Dan Klate crossed from the right following a quick counter, unfortunately, there were no United players in the area.
Supersport United almost equalised three minutes into the second half, but Francis Chansa produced a superb save in the process.
Pirates added their second when Lekoelea found Mokoena with a great pass, and the striker cut inside before beating Marlin at the far post.
