Kannemeyer training with the Urban Warriors 14/12/04
Ajax Cape Town coach Gordon Igesund has confirmed that former Kaizer Chiefs star David Kannemeyer is currently training with the Cape Town team.

Kannemeyer has been a peripheral figure at Chiefs in recent times after he declined to sign a contract extension, preferring rather to look for an overseas move.

The attack-minded left back started his career with Cape Town Spurs and then made a name for himself with the Urban Warriors, which resulted in his move to Chiefs.

The 27-year-old is now back at home in Cape Town and is still hopeful of making an overseas move.

"David is currently out of contract and asked us if he could join up with the team in order to stay fit," said Igesund.

"We are more than happy to have him - he is a great guy and we are happy to help him out. It may end with him getting an overseas move, we will have to see what the future brings."
