Mnguni training at Sundowns 15/12/04
Bennett Mnguni is currently in South Africa training with Premier Soccer League side Mamelodi Sundowns.

The midfielder has returned to the country during the Russian league's winter break and has started training with his former club on this week, in a bid to keep fit.

"Well, we are on a winter break and I would be going to Russia soon," Mnguni said on the club's official website.

"In the meantime, I needed to keep in shape and where else but at a club that gave me a break in professional football? In addition, Paul Dolezar was the coach when I left Sundowns so everything was really easy."

He conceded that he had approached coach Paul Dolezar and asked if he could train with the Brazilians while on his break.

"I requested the coach and his assistant if I could train with the team to keep in shape, and they gladly accepted," he said.

"I had a run at the club and although the team has drastically changed in terms of playing staff, I think they have assembled the finest group of quality players."

Dolezar praised the midfielder claiming that Mnguni has developed into a complete player who is matured and very dominant in the field either with or without the ball.

"He would be going back to Russia very soon," said Dolezar. "We spoke but I am not at liberty to disclose the contents of our discussions. All I can say is that he asked me to train with the team and I acceded to his request.

"I also had the pleasure of watching him closely and I can safely say that he remains one of the finest players this country has ever produced. His work rate still remains his strong point and he has matured beyond recognition."

"It must be remembered that he played in the Champions League against top clubs like Real Madrid and you do not come up against players like Zinedine Zidane without being worth your weight in gold as well."
