Orlando Pirates star Tyren Arendse has warned his former club Santos ahead of the duo's Castle Premiership fixture at Athlone Stadium on Sunday.
The Bafana Bafana star will return to his old hunting ground where he was once the toast of the town, but this time round he will be donning the colours of the Buccaneers and will be hoping to inflict maximum damage on 'the People's Team', from whom he moved to Pirates at the beginning of the season.
However, the midfielder-cum-striker conceded that he feels for his old club following the recent off-the-field shenanigans that has been going on at the Cape club.
"It can't be easy for the players when negative things happen off the pitch," he told the Cape Times. "All the guys want to do is obviously play football within a stable environment. That has not been the case at Santos this season.
"But all is not lost. The boys must just refocus and stick together. They still have a lot of experience to call on and there's a couple of good youngsters coming through."
But he added that he will be looking to put a few past his old teammates.
"Look, I will always have a soft spot for Santos but I'm a Pirates man now. I want to win and of course score in every match I play in," he said.
"In fact, when I got to training on Monday morning there was this huge expectation in the air. The players know how difficult it has been for teams from the north to win in Cape Town over the years."
"The buzz is almost like it is for a cup final. Sunday's match is a huge challenge. I feel very excited about playing in front of my old fans again."
