Ajax ready to bounce back 05/04/05
Ajax Cape Town ace Bradley August is confident his side can bounce back from Sunday's shock defeat to Bush Bucks when they face Jomo Cosmos on Wednesday night.

The Urban Warriors host the Ezenkhosi at Newlands, looking for the three points that would take them a step closer to securing a Top Eight finish.

August, who missed Sunday's game in East London, says the mood is still positive in the dressing room, with the players desperate to get back to winning ways.

"The spirits are still high," the 26-year-old said. "The guys are eager to get back out there and pick up three points to help us cement a Top Eight place.

"We know we should have done better on Sunday, but East London is a tough place to play football and Bucks are a decent team that are just struggling to get results going their way. I hope it all works out for them this season though."

On Wednesday, Ajax face a Cosmos side that have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, with Sunday's 3-1 win over Leopards confirming their resurgence.

August knows they are in for a tough game, adding: "Jomo's boys are always a difficult proposition. We know they'll make it tough and come at us hard, but we've been training very hard and are ready for whatever they can throw at us.

"We are still confident of finishing the season on a high and finishing in the top eight. A win on Wednesday will take us to 36 points and all but ensure that, but we're just taking it one game at a time."

Ajax will be forgiven for having one eye on this weekend's African Champions League preliminary against Guinean outfit St Labe.

The importance of that match is not lost on August, who added: "Sunday's game is massive for us. If we beat them we will go into the group stages and from there, who knows?"
