Aaron Mokoena has told Blackburn boss Mark Hughes to follow up his reported interest in South African team-mate Benni McCarthy.
The Ewood Park outfit have made no secret of their desire to land a new striker given the profligacy of the likes of Jon Stead and Paul Dickov in front of goal this season.
The FC Porto ace has emerged as a target for Premiership rivals Birmingham, Everton and Newcastle as well, and Mokoena has now urged his club boss to make a move for the former Ajax and Celta Vigo ace.
"Benni is a top forward and he is really looking forward to playing in The Premiership," he said. "We have the same agent and we talk a lot and he really wants to come to England to earn some pounds.
"You only have to look at Benni's record at Ajax and Porto to realise what a good striker he is."
