Chiefs part ways with Mafani 05/05/05
Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that popular Public Relations Officer Putco Mafani has officially handed in his resignation with immediate effect.

Mafani has been under a constant cloud of suspicion after being brought before a Chiefs disciplinary committee for a breach of the club's unwritten code of conduct relating to companions being brought along to a training camp.

The Amakhosi confirmed on their website that Mafani's contract had been terminated with immediate effect.

"Recently, the press has been awash with reports on allegations of sexual impropriety, that took place at the clubs team camp, against a senior Kaizer Chiefs official, Mr Putco Mafani, in contravention of the clubs long-standing unwritten code of conduct of not bringing female companions to a working environment such as a team camp.

"These allegations pertained to two (2) incidents within a period of four (4) days that occurred in Johannesburg and Madagascar, respectively. A disciplinary hearing was held and the presiding chairman held that Mr. Mafani was not guilty of contravening the unwritten code as he had no knowledge of the existence of such a code as the clubs witnesses failed to establish or prove that he had knowledge of the existence of the clubs unwritten code of conduct.

"The club subsequently instituted a disciplinary hearing into these allegations and soon thereafter Mr. Mafani submitted his resignation and management acknowledge receipt thereof in lieu of the outcome of the disciplinary hearing.

"However, given the deteriorating relationship that is characterised by unauthorised press reports on his resignation the club deem it necessary to terminate Mr. Mafanis employment with immediate effect.

"The clubs management, supporters and corporate sponsors are grateful for the period we shared with Mr. Mafani and take this opportunity to wish him well in his future endeavours."
