Moroka Swallows' bid for the Premier Soccer League title continues this Saturday as they take on current champions Santos at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
The Beautiful Birds go into the match four points adrift of current leaders Orlando Pirates, though with just four games still to play, they have emerged from a pack of four teams as being the only real challengers to the Buccaneers for the title this season.
Gavin Hunt's side will be hoping for a better defensive performance than in recent matches. Despite picking up three points against Dynamos last weekend, they still managed to concede three goals, something Hunt will be well aware of.
In fairness, he will have key defender Jermaine Christian back from suspension for the clash in the Mother City, though Warren Lewis remains in the sidelines with a fractured ankle.
Swallows will be hoping for a repeat of their December encounter at the Rand Stadium, when a Japhet Zwane goal was enough to separate the side.
Zwane has, of course, moved on to pastures new, but the Birds remain in potent goal-scoring form. Lucas Sebona (2), Adam Ndluvo, Edzai Kasinauyo and Samuel Ngobeni all scored in the 5-3 victory over Dynamos last weekend.
A win for the visitors on Saturday, coupled with a loss for Pirates at fourth-placed Golden Arrows, would close the gap at the top of the table to just one point.
But Santos have their own league position to fight for as they struggle to hold onto a top eight place in next season's lucrative SAA sponsored competition.
The Cape side were dumped out of the African Champions League at the weekend and they will be looking to restore pride on their home patch on Saturday.
