Hellenic all but ensured their top-flight status for another season when they scored a comfortable 2-0 win over relegated African Wanderers at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Greek Gods are involved in a battle with Bush Bucks, Ajax Cape Town and Black Leopards to stay in the Premier Soccer League, but the three points gained in Umlazi should see them safe.
It took the visitors only three minutes to open the scoring when Makwinji Soma-Phiri slotted home Daniel Matsaus pinpoint cross.
The home side, as has been the case for most of the season, were hardly a threat, but should have equalised through Innocent Mhlangu, who shot wide with the keeper beaten.
Surprisingly, it took Hellenic until the final minute before sealing the game when Aubrey Meintjies scored.
The win keeps them six points clear of Bush Bucks in the final relegation spot, while Wanderers stay well rooted to the bottom of the table.
